What's the best gift for a firefighter?

A custom leather helmet shield is the gift that sits at the top of the list — it's the one piece of gear a firefighter makes personal, it's a permanent keepsake, and if they're still on the job they'll actually wear it. For off-duty gifts, a leather glove strap, a locker nameplate, or a matching leather dog collar all hit. Stay away from firefighter-themed tchotchkes from the big-box stores — career firefighters can tell the difference.
How far in advance should I order a firefighter gift?

Standard production time is 5-7 business days, plus shipping. For a promotion, graduation, or retirement ceremony, order at least 3 weeks out to be safe. Rush orders with a 5-day guarantee are available for an extra fee. For Christmas, Father's Day, and Firefighter Appreciation Day (May 4), order 4-6 weeks ahead to avoid the seasonal rush.
What if I don't know their department details?

You can order a shield blank (unlettered) and let them customize it through us later, or just let us know what you know and we'll work around the gaps. Most firefighters have a clear preference about what goes on their shield — we've seen every combination.
Can I include a message or card?

Yes. Add your message to the order notes at checkout and we'll include a handwritten note from the shop in the package. No cost.
What's the price range?

Glove straps and locker nameplates run around $40-60. Most custom shields are $90-150 depending on size and complexity. Retirement display bundles and the most detailed custom pieces can go up to $300.
