Custom Leather Radio Straps
Hand-stitched leather radio straps built to carry your portable radio through a career.
A radio strap carries your portable on the outside of your gear, keeps the mic where you can actually reach it, and protects the radio from hanging up on doorways, ladders, and collapsed ceilings. If you've ever tried to transmit on a belt-clipped portable while doing a primary search, you already know why a real leather radio strap is worth what it costs.
Our radio straps are hand-cut from 9oz vegetable-tanned leather, saddle-stitched, and built to fit the full range of common portables — Motorola APX, XTS, Kenwood, Harris XG series. The antenna channel is open-topped so you can swap radios without pulling the whole strap apart. The mic-cord loop is positioned where it belongs — above the coat collar, not buried under your gear.
Every strap is personalized with your last name, company, or department, hand-stamped with the same tools we use on shields and glove straps. Choose black, dark brown, or red leather and pick your stitching color.
Fits every common portable
Motorola APX 4000/6000/8000, XTS 2500/5000, Kenwood TK/NX series, Harris XG-25/75. Message us if you run something rare.
Hand-stamped lettering
Last name, company, department — same stamping we use on shields. No printing, no vinyl.
Open-top antenna channel
Swap radios without taking the strap apart. The antenna slides in and out from the top.
High-shoulder fit
Strap rides high on the shoulder so the mic ends up where you can actually press it — not buried under your turnout coat collar.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a leather radio strap actually better than a nylon one?
+
Leather holds its shape under load, ages well, and doesn't stretch out. Nylon straps sag after a few months and the hardware tends to be cheap plastic. A leather strap costs more up front but outlasts three or four nylon straps.
How is the radio secured?
+
The radio sits in a leather pocket with a snap-secured retention strap across the top. The mic cord runs up through a loop on the main strap. You can pull the radio with one hand without opening the retention.
Will the strap fit over my turnout coat?
+
Yes. Radio straps are sized to ride over a structural turnout coat, not under it. If you need it sized for station-wear only, note that in your order.
Can you match the color to my shield?
+
Yes — most customers order a matching shield + glove strap + radio strap set in the same leather color and stitching. We'll keep the batch together during production.
