The Antique Shield is a custom leather fire helmet shield that brings the classic look of the early fire service back to life. Each one is hand-dyed and weathered for a true vintage finish. The stitched detailing and recessed lettering add depth and character that you don't see on modern fire helmet fronts.
I build these antique fire helmet shields from the same premium vegetable-tanned leather as all my shields, then age them by hand to get that old-world character. Every one comes out a little different, which is part of what makes them special. This is handcrafted leather art, not a factory product.

Each shield takes 4-5 hours of hands-on work and our standard production time is approximately 21 business days. Every shield is handcrafted to order: designed, laser cut from 9oz bridle leather, hand tooled, laser etched, hand painted, machine stitched on a Cobra Class 3, and edge finished before shipping.
We use premium 9-ounce vegetable-tanned bridle leather sourced from American retailers. This is the same weight of leather used in saddles and heavy-duty belts: thick, dense, and built to withstand the demands of the fireground. It's naturally heat and water resistant and holds its shape when wet.
