The Crew is an original in custom leather fire helmet fronts. Each personalized firefighter helmet shield is handcrafted from two layers of thick, premium 9oz vegetable-tanned bridle leather.
I custom make each shield by hand and personalize it exactly how you want. The Crew has two rockers (the curved cut-outs on the top and bottom) where you can place your department name, rank, station, name, or whatever else you want. In the center is an area for your badge number or rig.

Leather vs Plastic: Why The Crew Is Different
These aren't the machine-stitched, plastic-filled shields that came with your helmet. The first thing you'll notice is how thick The Crew is, about twice the thickness of whatever you're replacing. Full leather construction means it won't melt and drip plastic on your helmet the way standard issue fronts do. I build every custom fire helmet shield to last your entire career.

Each shield takes 4-5 hours of hands-on work and our standard production time is approximately 21 business days. Every shield is handcrafted to order: designed, laser cut from 9oz bridle leather, hand tooled, laser etched, hand painted, machine stitched on a Cobra Class 3, and edge finished before shipping.
We use premium 9-ounce vegetable-tanned bridle leather sourced from American retailers. This is the same weight of leather used in saddles and heavy-duty belts: thick, dense, and built to withstand the demands of the fireground. It's naturally heat and water resistant and holds its shape when wet.
Yes. We custom-make shields to fit ALL major helmet brands including Cairns (1010, 1044, N5A, N6A), MSA, Phenix TL-2, Bullard, Morning Pride, and Honeywell.
