El Capitan is my red leather fire helmet shield, and the red is not like anything else out there. The color comes custom from the tannery, not dyed by me after the fact. That means the red leather will last as long as the shield does. It won't fade, won't rub off, won't change color over time.
If you like the look of traditional fire helmet shields with tall, swooping lines and a classic firefighter frontpiece profile, this custom red leather helmet front is the one. Fully customizable with whatever wording you want in the rockers: department, rank, badge number, name, station.

Each shield takes 4-5 hours of hands-on work and our standard production time is approximately 21 business days. Every shield is handcrafted to order: designed, laser cut from 9oz bridle leather, hand tooled, laser etched, hand painted, machine stitched on a Cobra Class 3, and edge finished before shipping.
We use premium 9-ounce vegetable-tanned bridle leather sourced from American retailers. This is the same weight of leather used in saddles and heavy-duty belts: thick, dense, and built to withstand the demands of the fireground. It's naturally heat and water resistant and holds its shape when wet.
